A Dream Turned Reality

Do you have a dream? I mean a dream so big, that it keeps you up at night because you are so excited for the possibilities? A dream that you can’t stop thinking about, no matter how big or scary that dream is?

Well my dream that kept me up at night is to speak to students, coaches, teachers and parents about my story. My dream is to tell my story so loudly for all of those who once told me to quiet down. My dream is to change the culture around mental health, inspire young people that recovery is possible, and make them feel empowered to make a difference in their own lives and the lives of others.

My dream kept knocking at me, no matter how many times I told myself that speaking full time was unrealistic. But then an opportunity came, like it was written in the sky, and then realistic plans were laid out, and then a friend told me to listen to a particular podcast. This podcast was called Jesus and Jollaf and the episode was called, “The Grime Before the Glow Up”. I found myself in tears for most of the episode, and the one line that shook me to my core was when Yvonne Orgi says “Take the first step of obedience, and I’ll meet you there”. She was taking her first step of obedience to follow her dreams and trusting that God and the universe were going to guide her the rest of the way.

In that moment, I knew. I knew that I wanted to pursue my dream, no matter how big or how scary it was, it meant more to me than any other career path had ever meant to me. I had found something that brought me joy, fulfillment, hope, and allowed me to do the one thing I’ve always wanted to do – help others. I had to go after this dream that was keeping me up late at night.

I am so excited to announce, that I am taking the first step of obedience, leaving my full time job, and taking the most fulfilling, nerve racking and exciting risk of my life to speak full time.

Some may say this is fast, but I say this is me trusting my gut. Doing what scares me. Being braver than my anxiety. What a blessing that is to have healed so immensely that I can be braver than my anxiety.

If you have that dream that keeps knocking at your door, go after it. It is knocking at you for a reason, because that is your purpose, that is your calling. I promise you, you can accomplish your wildest dreams. I know this journey won’t be easy, but I truly believe that if I can take this risk and go after my dreams, you can do even just one small thing that gets you closer to yours.

When I first started dating my now fiance, he told me about a podcast I should listen to. The podcast was about a motivational speaker, Alexa Carlin, and how she got her start with just a blog. That podcast opened my eyes to the possibilities of where I could take this dream. My oh my, how things come full circle. I am forever grateful for every hint and push the universe has given me.

Universe, I am ready.

And I hope all of you can trust the universe as well. Every hint and every nudge, is happening for a reason. You are worthy of your dreams, I believe that now more than ever.

Xo,

Be Beautifully Simply You
